Alternative Break is a student-led program in the Civic and Community Engagement Office that prepares students to become active citizens. Students participate in trip experiences that engage them in direct service alongside community nonprofit organizations, education surrounding social justice and social issues, and critical reflection. At this time, the Alternative Break program is 100% funded through student leadership and student payment fees, so your support is critical and much appreciated.
Please help us to provide Buffalo State students with a life-changing Alternative Break experience. Any questions regarding the fundraiser can be directed to the student leadership team. We thank you in advance for your support!
In Fall 2018, the Alternative Break program hosted two fundraisers:
This fundraising event supported the student leaders’ and program’s efforts to be a part of SUNY-wide rebuilding initiatives in the wake of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. All proceeds from this fundraiser went to assist with associated travel costs to ensure a low-cost experience for the Buffalo State students taking part in the January 2019 service experience with All Hands and Hearts in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. We know that our service contribution made a difference to community members impacted by this disaster and we thank you for helping us achieve our goal. You make a difference!!
This fundraiser was sponsored by the Civic and Community Engagement Office and the Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics Department.
