SUNY Buffalo State students can be recruited for one-time, short-term, or ongoing projects with community agencies through our on-line volunteer posting system known as BengalLink. Students can assist with projects that require extra assistance. Examples include, but are not limited to, community revitalization projects, tutoring, mentoring, clerical work, mailings, fundraisers, or special events.
Throughout the year, the Civic and Community Engagement Office sponsors service events for SUNY Buffalo State students.
Upcoming community partner meetings will be announced in our community partner newsletter or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. We generally coordinate community partner meetings in December and July.
These meetings will provide you with an opportunity to meet with the office staff and SUNY Buffalo State faculty to discuss service-learning partnerships for the upcoming semester. You will be able to discuss future service-learning project ideas and network with other non-profit organizations.
Bengals Dare to Care 2020:
Bengals Dare to Care is traditionally a day of service for the Buffalo State community in partnership with local organizations, hosted by President Conway-Turner. To keep our students and community safe during the Covid-19 pandemic, Bengals Dare to Care has been reformatted.
Bengals Dare to Care 2020 will be a demonstration of how Buffalo State elevates social responsibility, community building, and social justice while taking action to improve the world for every individual in our community. We will amplify the voices of members of our campus and neighborhood communities and engage in strategies for continued learning and action for justice. Connections between racial justice and social issues including food insecurity, education, LGBTQ+, and voting will be explored.
October 26-November 1, 2020: Education and Racial Equity
November 2-8, 2020: Voting, Civil Rights, and Racial Justice
November 9-15, 2020: Diverse Perspectives within Racial Justice: LGBTQ+ and Differently Abled
November 16-22, 2020: Food Security, Housing, and Race
We look forward to working on site with our community partners during Bengals Dare to Care Day 2021!
