Spring 2023 Community Partner Requests

This list provides a snapshot of some of the current requests from our community partners. If you are interested in exploring how to incorporate service-learning projects in your course(s), please contact our office to request a one-on-one meeting. We can talk about your student learning objectives and explore how we can connect your course material to our community partners' requests.

Education: The African American Cultural Center and Mt. Olive Baptist Church are seeking university student tutors for their after-school homework help programs.

Food Security: Feedmore WNY invites students to sort food in their warehouse, make wellness check phone calls, and work with the Meals on Wheels program (preparing and delivering food).  They also seek to partner with a course to create training videos for warehouse volunteers and update their brochures.

Immigration and Refugee Resettlement: Our Community Academic Center is seeking a collaboration with a TESOL course to work with a large number of adult students who need English language instruction. They also seek university students who could help them create infographics for new immigrants (many of whom come from warm climates) about preparing for snow in Buffalo.

Physical and Mental Health: Compeer Buffalo is seeking One-to-One Friendship volunteers to assist an individual striving for mental wellness by spending approximately 4 hours with them per month. Volunteers are positive role models who help raise self-esteem, increase social and communication skills, build trust, increase a sense of belonging, and encourage independence for their Compeer friend.
