Bengals Vote Coalition
Mission Statement
The Bengals Vote Coalition (BVC) is a collaboration of Buffalo State advocates, student organizations, academic departments, and the Katherine S. Conway-Turner Office of Civic and Community Engagement, committed to engaging, educating, and mobilizing the Buffalo State community to be active voting citizens.Â
The BVC will implement high-impact practices to lead the institution’s voter engagement efforts, coordinating educational programs including voter engagement interactive and informative tabling, civic dialogue, discussion panels, and advocacy training. The Coalition offers a student leadership ambassador model, allowing the participants to connect their department/organization to the coalition, advancing diverse perspectives and sharing resources
Students are encouraged to take our survey through Election Day!
Recruiting new members!
Students
Students from any discipline are welcome to join our coalition. We will be brainstorming projects to work on together and collaborating our skills to make these projects possible! We aim to educate voters by tabling, using social media and approaching students around campus. This is a way to help your community and foster transferable skills that will help you professionally.
Responsibilities of student members include:
- Attending BVC meeting once a month. (TBD.)
- If possible, attend National Student Learn, Student Vote meetings. (Last Thursday of every month, virtually 4-5pm EST)
Faculty/ Staff
Faculty and staff from all disciplines are welcome to join our coalition. We will utilize your skills and expertise to organize events and make an impact! We aim to educate voters and encourage active voting through word of mouth, emails and Brightspace notifications (if possible.) The effort is greatly significant with the help of professionals like yourself mentoring students and offering a different perspective.
Responsibilities of faculty and staff members include:
- Attending BVC meetings once a month. (TBD, virtual and in person options available.)
- Communicate efforts of BVC to students and department.
Community Partners
Community partners are welcome to join our coalition. We are made stronger with our partnership. Being a part of the coalition means students and faculty/staff are more connected to your organization. We are able to push learning materials and help educate the campus more about your efforts.
Responsibilities of community partners include:
- Attending BVC meetings once a month. (TBD, virtual and in person options available.)
- Supporting events or activities of the coalition.
